February 24, 2007 D. Nash Charity Basketball Game ends Tragically

M.I.D.L. participated in its first charity event on February 24th, 2007 in St. Louis Missouri where the host, NFL Running back Damien Nash, died shortly after in his sleep.  The event was a Charity Celebrity Basketball Game.   Participants were sports athletes from the NFL, College, and Independent Music Artists.  They came together to raise money and canned goods for patients in need of heart transplants and underprivileged families.  The M.I.D.L. family would like to personally thank the D Nash-Find A Heart Foundation and the late Damien Nash, who played for the Denver Broncos.  Damien Nash used the power of networking to bring together a Charity Celebrity Basketball Game which was 1yr and 1 month after his brother, Darris Nash, received a heart transplant.  The event turned out to be a total success.  The turn-out was great and people were brought together to have a good time for a good cause.  Damien Nash played and had a great time.  After the game Damien Nash went home and passed away in his sleep.   This was national news however the national news couldn't tell you that the Charity Event was a farewell gathering for Damien Nash.  He did a great deed for something greater than himself, people came out and cheered him on, and he got to say farewell to people that he had not seen in sometime which included high school friends.  The event was held at his high school where he won a State Football Championship and was the star running back.  After the game was over and everyone was saying there farewells, a song with a message played in the background.  Many people weren't paying attention to the music playing but the music was playing for a reason and it was playing during that time for a reason.  The song that played is by an Independent Artist that M.I.D.L. sponsored in support of the event.  The title of the song was “See You When You Get Home” by “PACE”.  The reason M.I.D.L. sent an artist from Ohio to Missouri to play in a charity basketball game had nothing to do with why the artist had to be there to participate and play alongside a great person.  There was a message that had to be delivered and the message was sent through music.  The significance of the song playing after the game is unexplainable.  Now that you know how this played out, watch the video that was completed before this event took place.    Check out the video from PACE.  Click here

Music keeps us in touch with the world and the events that happen around the world.  Damien Nash has a song that will forever be connected to his farewell appearance and M.I.D.L. is thankful that it had the opportunity to share the message and spend the last moments of a great send off with Damien Nash.  Rest in Peace Damien “Dee Dee” Nash.
